The Ultimate Allergen Menu Guide: Fast Food

Hi, my name is Noelle N! I’m 16 years old, and am allergic to dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, and cephalosporin antibiotics. I am a member of the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) for FARE and I am a Staff Writer and Board Member for the Just Allergy Things Magazine.

Eating at a fast-food restaurant, whether for the first or thousandth time, can be a stressful experience if you have food allergies. While most go to a restaurant to avoid the work of cooking and preparing a meal, for the allergenic, eating out can become more difficult than making food at home. I know from experience that researching various fast food chains and their allergen menus can take a lot of effort and time. Based on this experience, I created this link guide that will make it much easier to locate some favorite fast food spots, and in the long run, reduce stress and save time. Remember, even if an allergy menu clearly states that your allergen is not in a food product you plan to order, take those extra steps to inform the employees of your allergens, confirm the ingredients they use at that chain, and anything else that makes you feel comfortable when ordering your meal. Don’t forget to always have your EpiPen, Auvi Q, or Benadryl for extra precaution!

*Disclaimer: These links are taken directly off the fast-food restaurant websites and therefore may not include all allergen information (they may not be updated or include fully disclosed information). Read carefully and double-check before eating from any fast food spot.
