Driving licence application mistake

First Post

I have just moved address last week and applied yesterday online for address change on my licence. At the final check page I failed to note that the website assumes all applicants were born in the UK (there was a drop menu in a previous page which has been set to UK as a place of birth). I was not born in the UK but it was too late as I only spotted this when I was doing my wife's licence application (it was not a problem for her as she was born in the UK).

I contacted DVLA this morning and they said the new licence has already been issued (strange as yesterday was a bank holiday..but typical!) with the wrong place of birth. Obviously they also failed to note that my previous licence (with the old address) have a different place of birth even though they say they will run their own checks.

Now, the lady on the phone said they cant do much as the new licence will be posted today and changing place of birth can not be done online (it involves posting documents and paying fees). My question is shall I leave it until time for licence renewal in 3 years time? Are there any implication for not changing it now. thanks for advice

I don't think it matters too much about it. If you are really bothered change it back but most people would pay very little heed to it.

thanks alot.that was my thinking. I am normally a sort of person who likes to have every thing accurate so I can have good sleep but after a previous experience when I tried to make changes to my car logbook, it was lost and both royal mail and DVLA blamed each other and I ended paying for a new one and only got it after 3 months of stress, I dont want to open a can of worms and have a similar experience if not needed

It may possibly cause problems in a couple of instances.
1/ You want to use the licence as proof of identity for something and as part of the application you are required to state your country of birth and it's noticed that there is a difference between what you say and the details on your licence.

2/ You hire a car and place of birth is required on the application and you have to show the licence when collecting the vehicle.
The actual chances of the mistake causing a problem for these scenarios is remote but just something to consider.
